Development House - Wikimedia UK's offices

Wikimedia UK is located in 'Development House' - a building that we are sharing with ca. 20 other charities. In May 2012 we delivered a short presentation for them talking about Wikimedia UK and Wikipedia, and as a result there was a lot of interest in learning to edit Wikipedia. The idea of this event was to help our co-residents by teaching them to create/improve articles about their charities, or improve the content about the issues they focus on. The charities in the building all tackle very different issues, so their interests are quite varied.

Wikimedia UK has delivered a similar event in the beginning of 2012 - one of the charities that attended was Pragya. It now has a brilliant Wikipedia article with great photos, which you can see here.

Information for attendees

The event was an informal drop-in style, with volunteers available from 11am - 4pm. It was possible to come for 20 minutes to hear a bit about Wikipedia and how you can contribute, or stay for an hour or two to create an article.

Information for the trainers

  • When you sign up below please indicate whether you are available for the whole day, or just a part of it
  • We are able to cover transport and lunch
  • There will be 3-4 of laptops available
  • It will be based in the Meeting Room 1 in the basement, or in the breakout area in the basement.
