Wikimania GLAM track
The Programme has not quite been finalised yet but will be imminently.
JC will draft a note to the GLAM community about the GLAM track and circulate it to the GLAM committee.
Wikimania fringe
There is an aspiration for a big GLAM event on the 11th. The Fringe is historically the day after Wikimania and to a lesser extent the rest of the month. We are trying to structure the years GLAM to include some events in Mid to late August. We also have some Wikimania Fringe items such as the list of free specialist London libraries that will be migrating back to the UK wiki after Wikimania.
Free Culture Hack
We have been give a free culture hack weekend at the Barbican by the London wikimania team as part of the build up to Wikimania. The committee was uncomfortable that the word hack would deter non-programmers.
Mass upload latest
Jonathan briefed the committee re latest on Mass uploads - the software is currently live and some batch uplods are being set up. Case studies, training and user manual need to be completed.
Technology
(Feedback from discussion at London meetup)
WIR program
Marc introduced himself and his intentions re his Coleg Cymru residency.
Jonathan briefed the committee re the current WIRs; The opportunity for further applications for the current round; Concerns raised recently in the US about WIRs and conflict of interest and of WIRs who are inexperienced as Wikipedians.
Padmini and Robin both mentioned potential WIR applications that may soon be coming in.
