WMUK or Meta?

https://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2014 OR https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2014_bids/London ??

For me it makes more sense to do this on meta, since that's where the bid will ultimately be, and it would be good to show our early development work there. Either way, we should definitely not use both in parallel! EdSaperia (talk) 11:23, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Well, this is just my view but WMUK wiki seems like the place for all internal planning, minutes, meetings, discussion/debate etc. whilst meta is the "front facing" area were we present firm aspects of the bid to the community. I am apathetic, personally, as to whether that is best or not :) but I think meta would not be [pleased with us using lots of sub-pages for detailed internal planning. --ErrantX (talk) 12:00, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Bear in mind that the home of the 'WikiConference UK' series is here rather than on meta - so I think it makes sense to develop materials on this wiki, and then move versions over to meta as needed. Both places demonstrate the early development work, BTW - and it's easy to link back and forth between them... Mike Peel (talk) 13:00, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
I think it will be very difficult to tell where internal planning ends and outward facing work begins. There will be very little that we consider "firm" for quite a while, and in a way it seems against the spirit of the wiki process to collaborate on things like this in private. Anyway, it seems we're stuck with this for now, but I can see it becoming a bit of a headache in future. EdSaperia (talk) 09:45, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Other stuff in 2014

London will host the World Science Fiction Convention Thurs 14 to Mon 18 August at the Excel Conference centre. The dates are probably not going to clash with Wikimania and I have no idea how much of a crossover there might be in membership (except for me).

I am helping to organise the art exhibition and vendors zone at Worldcon so I'm not going to be available for planning Wikimania. Sorry. I should be available to help Wikimania on the day.

By the way I am planning to invite Wikipedia, WikiNews and Wikimedia Commons (and maybe Fanlore wiki too) to share a stall where anyone with a Wikipedia page can come and be interviewed by WikiNews or update their photo on Commons. Worldcon gets a lot of Science Fiction authors, not just the official guests. Filceolaire (talk) 16:26, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
