An attempt to remember all the events I've attended, run, or organised.
- Screen Sprint
- WMF offices, San Francisco, September 2010. Wikimedia Foundation event to launch WikiProject Screencast, involving producing demonstration screencasts on making screencasts and editing Wikipedia.
- Herbert Backstage Pass (attended)
- Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry, 1 October 2011.
- Manchester Wikilounge (assisted)
- John Rylands University Library, Manchester, 24 October 2011. A drop-in session for members of the public and University of Manchester staff and students wishing to learn more about Wikipedia.
- Manchester Girl Geeks editing day (led with RexxS)
- MadLabs, Northern Quarter, Manchester, 12 November 2011. Members of Manchester Girl Geeks spent a day learning how to get started as Wikipedians. Several articles and draft articles were created, and several more expanded by the attendees during the course of the day, while myself and others floated around the room to provide assistance where necessary. - Liverpool Wikilounge (led)
- Sydney Jones Library, University of Liverpool, 22 November 2011. As with the Manchester Wikilounge, a drop-in session for students, staff, and members of the public wanting to learn more about Wikipedia. Fewer drop-ins than Manchester due to a smaller group of volunteers and an impractical location, but those who came left better informed about Wikipedia.
- GLAMcamp Amsterdam (attended)
- 2, 3, and 4 December 2011, Amsterdam. Three-day conference and workshop on relationships between Wikimedia and cultural organisations.
- Charities in Development House (assisted)
- 19 and 20 December 2011, WMUK offices, Development House, London. Drop-in session for representatives of other charities/not-for-profits based in Development House, assisting them with improving the Wikipedia articles about their organisation with particular focus on Wikipedia's policies on conflicts of interest.
- OTRS workshop (attended)
- 7 and 8 January 2012, WMUK offices, Development House, London. Workshop/mini-conference and training event for volunteers who answer emails sent to Wikipedia.
- Wikipedia and Me (assisted)
- 26 January 2012, Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry. Talk by Roger Bamkin, followed by a session helping attendees get to grips with editing Wikipedia.
- Wiki Loves Monuments brainstorm (organised and chaired)
- 18 February 2012, WMUK offices, Development House, London. Brainstorming meeting and workshop for volunteers interested in bringing the European photography contest "Wiki Loves Monuments" to the UK.
- Outreach work in Monmouth schools (with RexxS)
- 20 and 21 March 2012, Monmouth. Teaching in two schools in Monmouth as part of the Monmouthpedia project. Drop-in sessions for interested staff and pupils, including an explanation of the reversion of vandalism to Wikipedia articles and discussion of reliability of Wikipedia and how Wikpedians determine the reliability of sources.
- Coventry History Editathon (organised with Rock drum)
- 31 March 2012, Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry. Event primarily for Wikipedians interested in the history of Coventry and local historians interested in Wikipedia, along with curious locals and Wikipedians recruited to assist with training. Tours of the museum and its resources in the morning, followed by editing (with experienced Wikipedians guiding the newer editors) in the afternoon. Several new articles were written using sources provided by the museum, and the event attracted local press coverage (Coventry Telegraph; Coventry Observer, including photograph of and quote from myself).
- Wikimedia UK board meeting and first Monmouth meetup
- 21 April 2012, Shire Hall, Monmouth. Attended and contributed to board meeting, then acted as point of contact for Wikipedians coming to celebrate and learn about the Monmouthpedia project.
- Meeting regarding Train the Trainers Tender
- 4 May 2012, held via Skype. Sat on panel, with WMUK chief executive and trustee responsible for applicable budget, to evaluate tenders for a trainer-training contract and decide which bidder(s) should be awarded which part(s) of the contract.
- WikiConference UK 2012 (attended)
- 12 May 2012, Science Museum, London. Annual conference of Wikimedia movement in the UK and AGM of Wikimedia UK.
- Wikimania planning meeting (organised and chaired)
- 13 May 2012, WMUK offices, Development House, London. Preliminary meeting for persons interested in assisting with a bid to host Wikimania 2014 in London. The Conference Committee was established at this meeting with the intention of leading the Wikimania bid and possibly WMUK's 2013 conferences, and supporting EduWiki Conference 2012 and GLAM-WIKI 2012.
- Monmouthpedia
- 15–19 May, Monmouth. Five days in Monmouth assisting with preparations for the project's launch. Included putting plaques on buildings, attempting to get stickers in shop windows, and working with local museums. Some coordination of and with volunteers and staff. Started relationship with the Castle and Regimental Museum, including placement of QRPedia codes and donation of images. Ran Wikipedia editing workshops in the town on 19 May.
- GLAMcamp London/2012 (attended)
- 8 June 2012, Mozilla Spaces, London. Meeting to discuss relationships between Wikipedia and Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAMs); coordination and planning for GLAM-WIKI 2012.
- Training the Trainers/June event (attended)
- 9 & 10 June 2012, WMUK office, London. Training provided by Midas Training Solutions Ltd in delivering training and training others. A useful opportunity to have professional training and provided a confidence boost.
- World War I Editathon (attended)
- GLAM-WIKI planning meeting (attended)
- 22 June 2012, WMUK office, London. Planning meeting for GLAM-WIKI conference.
- Wikipedia and images workshop (assisted)
- Workshop about Wikimedia Commons, categorisation of images, and use of images on Wikipedia. Primarily aimed at people who expressed an interest during the fundraiser. Planning to organise a similar event in Coventry to supplement Wikipedia Takes Coventry.
- Wikimedia UK board meeting (attended)
- 30 June & 1 July 2012, WMUK office, London. Attended board meeting as several areas of interest to me were on the agenda. Contributed to some discussions, particularly regarding support for volunteers and measuring effectiveness of events. Presented briefly on the subject of the Conference Committee, invited the board to hold next meeting in Coventry, again to supplement Wikipedia Takes Coventry. ConfCom recognised as sub-committee for WMUK purposes.
- Physiology 2012 conference (presented)
- 2 July 2012, Edinburgh. Two-hour presentation on Wikipedia to the Physiological Society's annual conference. Full report available.
