Introduction

Wikidata enthusiast based in London, UK. This is the kind of stuff I get up to around Wikidata:

• Helping to organise Wikidata related events in the UK (training, showcases etc).
• Presenting/Introducing people to Wikidata, and generally teaching them how to use it.
• Advising Wikimedians in Residence, and assisting with mass data imports from partner organisations.
• Advising people in cultural heritage organisations about how to re-use Wikidata data, and the benefits of donating data to Wikidata.
• Building Wikidata related applications (See Histropedia section below).
• As much editing as I can manage!

Histropedia

Very proud to be a part of a project that helps to visually demonstrate the power of Wikidata - Histropedia is an interactive timeline site using Wikidata as the primary source for all event data. The long term aim of the project is to create and maintain an open licenced directory of timelines on every topic in history, which largely remains up to date automatically using Wikidata queries. The finer details can then be adjusted by any user to add a narrative to the underlying data, or simply to fix mistakes/missing data (which can then be reported back to the Wikidata community).

Histropedia was launched at Wikimania 2014 (see the submission here)

Live SPARQL Query Timelines

We've also recently released a separate tool for generating timelines from live SPARQL queries, with colour coding and filtering using based on data returned by your query - Wikidata Query Timeline Viewer
