Membership

Wikimedia UK is an independent Chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc, serving the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Supporting membership is open to all individuals and organisations who support our aims on payment of an annual fee. Membership is not restricted to editors of the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. projects. The right to decline any application is reserved. An application form to apply for membership is available here.

The current annual membership fees for Supporting Members of Wikimedia UK are as follows:

Individual Supporting Member: £25

Individual Supporting Member (Concessionary): £15

Commercial Corporate Member: £250

Non-profit / NGO Corporate Member: £100

For individuals there is also a life membership option:

Until October 2008: Individual Founding Life Member: £250

From November 2008: Individual Life Member: £280

The concessionary rate is available to anyone under 18 or who receives, or is entitled to receive, state benefits (other than state pension or child benefit). The rates are set each year by the Board and are payable annually on the anniversary of the application for membership.

The Life membership option may be paid in a single payment or over the period of 12 months subject to the member providing an irrevocable letter of intent.

Corporate members may send up to three people at the 'supporting member' rate to any event of Wikimedia UK for which a fee is charged; further attendees will be charged at the 'guest' rate. Individual supporting members are entitled to bring one person at the 'guest' rate to any event of Wikimedia UK for which a fee is charged.
