Notice of 2016 Annual General Meeting
The next AGM for Wikimedia UK will be held at 3pm on Saturday 9th July at Impact Hub Birmingham, Walker Building, 58 Oxford St, Birmingham B5 5NY. As a member of the charity this is an important opportunity for you to have your say about how we work and influence how we are run, so please do attend the meeting if you can. We have also planned a 'Wikimedia UK meet up' beforehand with training, talks and time for informal networking amongst existing trustees, members, staff, volunteers and other interested stakeholders.
Schedule for the day
- 10.30am Arrive, tea and coffee

- 11.10am The Open Movement (Andy Mabbett)
- 11.45am Morning breakout sessions
- 1.00pm Lunch
- 2.00pm Lightning talks
- 2.45pm Set up for AGM
- 3.00pm AGM
- 5.00pm Wrap up and close
For the morning breakout sessions attendees will have a choice of Wikidata training with Andy Mabbett or Wiki Takes Birmingham, which will be a photographic excursion in the local area. We will circulate more details of these beforehand.

- Finance report (Treasurer)
- Activity report (Chief Executive)
- Resolutions (Chair)
- Explanation of election procedure (Teller)
- Questions to candidates and election (Teller)
- Discussion of reports and the work of the charity (Chair)
- Announcement of election result (Teller)
- Closure of formal business
The meeting will start promptly at 3pm and we anticipate that formal business will close at 5pm.
Invitation for candidates for election to the Board
The AGM is your opportunity as a member to stand for election as a trustee of Wikimedia UK. Members wishing to submit nominations for the board can find more details here. Please do read this information carefully before deciding whether or not to stand for election, and make sure you apply by the deadline of 11.59pm on Friday 24th June.
Voting Papers
If you are unable to attend the AGM, you have the right to appoint another person as your proxy to attend and vote on your behalf. We encourage you to make use of your voting rights, whether or not you are able to come to the meeting itself. All current members of the charity will be sent AGM papers by post, including voting papers and proxy forms. If you have moved house in the past year, or you are not sure if we have your correct postal address details, please do email richard.nevell@wikimedia.org.uk with any updates by Monday 27th June. You can also email Richard if you haven't received your papers by Monday 4th July.
Annual Report and Accounts
The draft annual report and accounts are available online at https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/File:WMUK_Annual_Report_2015-16_(Draft).pdf. These have now been approved by the board and will be signed by our Independent Examiners prior to the AGM, with copies provided for members. The annual review will also be available in hard copy at the AGM, as well as in PDF online by Monday 4th July.
