2018 AGM/AGM Notice
Dear Member
Notice of 2018 Annual General Meeting
Saturday 14th July at the Natural History Museum
The next AGM for Wikimedia UK will be held at 10:30am on Saturday 14th July at the Natural History Museum in London. As a member of the charity this is an important opportunity for you to have your say about how we work and influence how we are run, so please do attend the meeting if you can. We have also planned other activities throughout the day, which will include a keynote speech from the Campaigns Director of Liberty, Corey Stoughton, a look at our work with the Welsh Government from Welsh Digital Language Specialist, Gareth Morlais, and an introduction to the challenges and successes of the Natural History Museums' new Data Portal. The full agenda for the day can be found here. If you haven't already, please confirm your attendance by registering here.
Resolutions and Voting Papers
The formal business of the AGM will start at 3:30pm. This year we’ll be sending out the resolutions to vote on by email. We have the following motions to vote on:
1. To note that elections to the board are not required at this AGM.
2. To accept the Annual Report and Accounts for the year to 31st January 2018.
3. To re-appoint Kingston Smith LLC as auditors.
4. To maintain membership fees at the current level of £5 per year (£100 per year for organisations).
If you are unable to attend the AGM, you have the right to appoint another person as your proxy and vote on your behalf. We encourage you to make use of your voting rights, whether or not you are able to come to the meeting itself. All current members of the charity will be sent AGM papers by email, including voting papers and proxy forms. If you would prefer to use a different email than the one we have for you, please contact membership@wikimedia.org.uk with any updates by Monday 3rd of July. You can also use this email to contact us with any questions you have about the AGM or your membership.
Annual Report and Accounts
The annual report and accounts have been signed off by the board and the auditors, and can be found online here. To save paper we won't be sending hard copies of the annual report to all our members this year, however copies will be available at the AGM.
Strategic Report
This year we've also produced a Strategic Report, which combines the information from the Annual Report with engaging content and photos. It can be found online here and hard copies will be available at the AGM.
Lightning Talks
We would like to invite people attending the AGM to give a short lightning talk - for example on your work with Wikimedia, or developments within open knowledge - so please email membership@wikimedia.org.uk if you would like to participate. There are limited slots available and talks should be no longer than five minutes.
We would love to see as many of our members, volunteers and other stakeholders as possible on 14th so please sign up.
