Briefly describe the issue or problem that motivates this application. What needs are you meeting?

Jilly Cooper is a popular UK novelist, but content about her and her works on Wikipedia is limited, or of poor quality. I've been trying to amend this, but because her fame was at its height in the 1980s and 1990s, most of the reviews and profiles about her were published in newspapers, which are not freely available online.

Describe project activities. What will you use the funding to do?

I'd like a 3-month subscription to the British Newspaper Archive to work on existing and create articles relating to Jilly Cooper. Looking online this seems to be a good avenue to find coverage about her works.

Describe your plan for evaluating this project. How will you measure success? What types of things will you measure (e.g. content, participants)?

I'll measure articles expanded, created, nominated for DYK. I'd hope to write a piece (not sure where yet) about the project. Cooper's works have been overlooked in academia as they have the "bonkbuster" label - indeed one editor was disparaging about the edits I made to the template for her works - to paraphrase "no one can be bothered about these books as no one has written about them". I think her millions of readers (including former PM Rishi Sunak) would disagree. For me it's both a gender-based issue and an issue about intellectual snobbery.

Identify key people involved in this project. How will or could the wider Wikimedian community be involved?

This is a content expansion project, rather than a wider engagement one, although I'll likely post about the project at Wikiproject Women Writers and Women in Red. As above, I'd also like to write a blog or similar about it, to expand how people think about Wikipedia.
