Project description
- Briefly describe the issue or problem that motivates this application. What needs are you meeting?
Part of our Wikimedia advocacy at the University of Leeds is to engage colleagues and the wider community with the Wikimedia platforms and open knowledge.
- Describe project activities. What will you use the funding to do?
The walk will be led by a professional Leeds-based walking guide. The funding will be used to pay for their time.
- Describe your plan for evaluating this project. How will you measure success? What types of things will you measure (e.g. content, participants)?
We will set up an outreach dashboard and encourage participants to register and upload their photographs to Wikimedia UK. I will also run an editathon to improve relevant Wikipedia articles with photographs and historical details.
- Identify key people involved in this project. How will or could the wider Wikimedian community be involved?
Participants include academic staff from the University of Leeds as well as colleagues from Leeds Central Library who represent a nascent Wikimedia Community in the city. We will share our dashboard, photographs and impact with the wider Wikimedia community.
