Briefly describe the issue or problem that motivates this application. What needs are you meeting?

Editing Is an Act of Love is a Wikipedia editing residency at Konvent de Cal Rosal (Berga, Catalonia), in collaboration with Amical Wikimedia and Art+Feminism Barcelona. The residency will take place from 3 to 16 August 2026 and will bring together a small group of editors, researchers, artists, and cultural practitioners interested in working collectively on Wikipedia and other projects within the Wikimedia ecosystem (Wikidata, Commons, etc.), with particular attention to underrepresented genealogies, feminist knowledge, and marginalised cultural practices.

I have been offered a place at this residency, as an experienced Wikipedia editor and trainer, and founder of the Perth Women on Wikipedia project. I am hoping to share what we have learned through the project, particularly around surfacing lesser-told women's histories and working with the library as a partner, and to learn from other members of the community involved in feminist knowledge activism. It will also be a space for me to research and create Wikipedia articles for some of the women on our worklist.

Participation in the residency is free and includes accommodation, food and workspaces at Konvent. I need to separately fund my travel costs, and I am hoping WMUK can help with that.

Describe project activities. What will you use the funding to do?

Air fares from Edinburgh to Barcelona are around £150 each way for this time period. Bus fares from Barcelona to Berga (around 100km) are only around £15. Any contribution would be welcome.

Describe your plan for evaluating this project. How will you measure success? What types of things will you measure (e.g. content, participants)?

Evaluation will be a reflective blog about my learning from the experience and how it will enhance my practice.

Identify key people involved in this project. How will or could the wider Wikimedian community be involved?

Amical Wikimedia and Art+Feminism Barcelona are the main partners, and there will be 12 other participants from Catalonia, Spain and elsewhere.
