Inactive?

I notice that on the page Wikimania bid it says that this bid is inactive. Is this true? Any particular reason? I notice that people are now considering bidding for Bristol or London in 2013. If it is inactive, perhaps we should say so on the page (or make it more obvious, if I have missed it). Yaris678 14:08, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

The short answer is that we don't have volunteers who can put together a 2013 bid for Manchester. Of the three, Manchester is my favourite, but Bristol has the advantage of having been thought about long in advance and London has the advantage of somebody there with sufficient time and contacts to get things done. That said, Panyd and I are waiting to hear back from our contact at Visit Manchester to see if he thinks he can put together a bid on the accelerated timescale (she and I met with him last week for a preliminary meeting geared towards 2014, then the committee as a whole decided to go for 2013. Move to Meta?

Hey. :-)

What's the plan about moving this to meta? Other bids are piling up there and it'd be good to have them developed on a more high-visibility wiki for others to see...

As suggested at Talk:London Wikimania Bid#Move to Meta?, I think the idea is that we decide on a single UK bid, before moving it to meta. Yaris678 10:25, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
