Hello everyone! I am a Wikipedian who has edited quietly since 2004. I prefer to keep my identity secret, but I have been a member of Wikimedia UK for three years. Within Wikimedia UK, I feel strongly on the following points:
- Ensuring that the charity is inclusive of everyone, especially:
- The disabled and long-term ill
- Those of all sexualities and genders (although I do not altogether agree with the current views of the Wikimedia LGBT group)
- The elderly who do not regularly use computers, but who would benefit immensely from knowing that Wikipedia exists for them to use
- Those who cannot (or do not) edit Wikipedia, that is: our readers and supporters, who are often forgotten about
- Ensuring that we support all free knowledge projects, including those that aren't Wikipedia (OpenStreetMap!)
- I strongly believe that the current Wikimedia movement, including parts of Wikimedia UK, is too argumentative and aggressive, and would like to see us move away from 'drama' towards a more friendly atmosphere.
