Main Duties
1. Programme Development and Delivery
- In collaboration with the Programme Manager and the Director of Programmes and Evaluation at Wikimedia UK, engage with the Wikimedia Foundation and other movement partners to explore and identify ‘topics for impact’ on Wikimedia, both within our local context and at an international level
- Develop a plan for targeted content partnerships in relation to the ‘topics for impact’ identified
- Seek potential opportunities for new projects and partnerships, particularly focusing on Wikimedia content development
- Work with the Development team and other staff to identify and follow up funding opportunities for existing or potential projects
2. Relationship Management
- Develop and manage relationships with existing and potential partner organisations within the scope of ‘topics for impact’
- Advocate at an institutional and sector level for the free and open release of impactful knowledge and information
- Work with the Global Systems Institute and other stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and legacy of our first Wikimedian-in-Residence for Climate; documenting the impact of the project as well as lessons learned and replicable models of engagement
3. Community Engagement and Development
- Facilitate the participation of contributors to Wikimedia’s climate coverage and other topics for impact; drawing on public engagement and crowdsourcing models to enable people to participate in capturing and disseminating impactful information
- Pilot and evaluate different models of community engagement, creating clear contribution pathways for new and existing editors
- Develop engagement opportunities for new and existing Wikimedia projects contributors including content generation opportunities (such as editing campaigns), editing events and similar; and provide support for community-led activities
- Collaborate and coordinate with the global community of editors and affiliates working on climate and related information on Wikimedia; helping to ensure a joined-up approach to the provision of up-to-date, accurate and unbiased information about the impact of climate change on our planet and people
- Support the development of community organisers who can be involved in delivering activities; and where appropriate, provide support for online community governance processes
- Support other staff within the Programmes team in their own work with topics for impact
4. Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact
- Report regularly on programme plans, outputs and outcomes, in collaboration with other staff in the Programmes team
- Handle documentation and record all relevant programme metrics. Update CRM records for partnerships, volunteers and activities
