Apologies
There were no apologies, the participants met online.
GLAM booklet
JC presented the concept of the GLAM booklet, and explained that there was an internal disagreement as to whether the examples should all focus on the UK, there should be a fifty fifty balance between UK and non-UK, or a compromise.
- Edward liked the use of global examples and having a non-parochial booklet
- Robin agreed, and suggested best practice and exemplar examples. Robin also mooted the possibility of a Welsh translation.
GLAM program
JC briefed about the program and some prospects.
There was a discussion about various prospects and ingredients that make for successful events, and especially the sort of people who might become Wikipedians.
One conclusion. Target training at people who are already online. Wikipedia editing is not currently suitable for people who are new to the Internet.
One speculation. Both Edward and Jonathan had migrated to Wikipedia from editing family history into genealogy databases. Previous or other Internet hobbies would be a good research question.
AOB
Future meetings might as well move to afternoons unless we are joined by someone who is unavailable in the daytimes.
