Meeting our goals

  • Strategic goal G2a.1, G2a.2 & G2a.4:
    • G2a.1: For our community of volunteers to thrive we must be able to deliver support across the entire UK
    • G2a.2: For our community of volunteers to be diverse, we must be able to deliver support in every locality in the UK.
    • G2a.4: A more devolved approach will be able to access a greater diversity of funding sources.
  • Strategic goals G2b.1: A more devolved approach will provide a more effective means resource management by involving volunteers in discrete localities.
  • Strategic goal G5: Adopting this extension in our training activties will mean we are working with other Wikimedia communities and organisations in an open way and hence facilitating shared learning across the entire movement.

Volunteer Strategy Gathering 1

The Volunteer Strategy Gathering 1 (2014-11-29) gave rise to some thoughts about a more devolved approach to Wikimedia UK:

Mission

  • Appoint regional coordinators to spur on activity in the their areas
  • Focus more outside London
  • Support and develop meetups in Newcastle, Bristol, Leeds and the Midlands
  • Support local meetups
