Women of the University of Edinburgh - Ada Lovelace Day Editathon 2015

About the event
The Women of the University of Edinburgh Editathon is being held as part of the University of Edinburgh's very first Ada Lovelace Day, on Tuesday 13 October 2015. Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
The schedule includes:
- guest speakers
- composing music with algorithms
- building Raspberry Pi enclosures with LEGO
- metadata games (University of Edinburgh’s Library and University Collections division)
- Wikipedia training session and edit-a-thon
- and much more!
The Editathon in the afternoon will aim to update Wikipedia with biographies of notable women of the University (including staff and alumni) who are currently missing from the encyclopedia. Our hit list is below.

- Computers will be provided but bring a laptop if you prefer.
- Learn about editing if you like: Tutorial, or Getting started on Wikipedia for more information
- Think about what you would like to edit - some suggestions are below but please feel free to add more! Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia's standards of notability, and guidelines for biographies of living persons. It is advised that all articles contain a minimum of 250 words and 3 external references. Biographies should clearly state why the individual is notable.
