From Wikimedia UK

Hello all. I've put together the brief for media training and a formal request for tenders. It includes some basic information about what we're looking for and how we want it to be delivered. If anyone knows of companies who may be interested in submitting tenders for this work please do share this page. Tenders to be received by 5pm on 31 August please. If you have any comments or questions, please use the discussion page or drop me an email - this page should be kept "as-is" to give information to interested providers. Thank you. --Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 15:46, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Introduction

Wikimedia UK has a need to provide media training workshops to two groups of around 6-8 people (up to 16 in total). We would like for you to provide a tender (including a cost estimate) for this training and include details of how to deliver it. The tender is to include the development of the course content (with the WMUK team), delivering the training, providing assessment and allowing us to use and share any resources developed specifically for the training under a free license.

Requirements

Each training session will be attended by a group of six to eight people, comprising a mixture of volunteers, trustees and appropriate staff. These sessions can take place at Wikimedia UK's offices in the Old Street area of London, possibly on Saturdays. There's potentially going to be a range of experience levels in terms of dealing with the media, from complete novices to people with good experience, although we'll try to put more experienced people together. Please take this in to account. We'd like the training to take place by the end of 2012.

The training would need to cover some core components, albeit to a basic level, and include some practical tasks. The elements we need to include are how to work with journalists, how to give comments and interviews (for print, radio and TV/video if possible), some basics of PR (such as how to sell in content) and how to stay on message. An element of review for trainees is essential, to include recording and playback aspects where appropriate.

Please provide tenders and details by 5pm on 31 August 2012. The tenders should be sent to stevie.benton@wikimedia.org.uk
