Talk:2010 Fundraising Summit

Do we plan to do anything substantial on Friday during the day or will most happen on Staurday / Sunday? I might have a problem to arrive before Friday night.... Pavel Richter, WM DE

We haven't worked out the agenda yet. We'll make sure we don't schedule anything too important for times when some people won't be there. That is why I've asked people to say when they'll be arriving. --Tango 18:40, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Fundraising tool kit

Regarding the fact that most chapters do not really do fundraising I think it would be worthwhile to discuss and write a fundraising tool kit.

In that we could point out things like

  • what fundraising is about (communication, attitude, donor binding, vision),
  • how fundraising is being done (communication, thank you letters, mailings, public relations)
  • how every day fundraising can work with Wikimedia, with little time and little expertise
  • whether the information flow between chapters/WMF can be optimized

What do you guys think? Till Mletzko, WMDE

Do you mean we should put together such a kit at the summit for the benefit of chapters not attending and new chapters? If so, I think that is a good idea. --Tango 22:00, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Agenda

I know it is late, but I would like to talk a little about the agenda of the meeting. Most of Saturday seems to be for the Fundraising Agreement. I would suggest that we spend more time discussing the preparation of the Fundraiser 2010 / 2011, and not so much the individual agreements between Chapters and WMF. I would like to talk about how we can have a truly international fundraiser, how we will decide on the website design, when and how (and who) decide the overall theme of the campaign, and so on. Will this be part of the Saturday or when would be the best time for this?--84.191.166.14 14:00, 12 May 2010 (UTC) (Pavel Richter (WMDE)

Most of the rest of the meeting will be about that kind of stuff. If we manage to reach an agreement on the basic outline of the fundraising agreement before the end of Saturday, then we can stop discussing it and move on to more interesting stuff. I hope that is the case, but we suspect the agreement will be very controversial and involve lots of discussion. We intend to discuss the agenda a bit on Friday afternoon and can make some minor changes then if people want to. --Tango 14:37, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
OK, I see. I guess that we can and should agree on the general structure of the agreement, but than there are individual parts that might not be of interest for other chapters. Unfortunatly, I will arrive on Friday evening, so I will miss all of Friday (except for food and drinks at night).--84.191.166.14 15:19, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
