Hello everyone. The need for a digital literacy strategy has often been discussed at meetings of the education committee. It is an area of potentially great impact for Wikimedia UK and so we should create a strategy that outlines how we can be clear about its possible impacts, how we deliver them and how we measure them. I;ve made a basic start on the page including a couple of headings we may wish to use. Please do get involved! Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 11:55, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Presuming this is not limited to teaching people how to edit Wikipedia, I am unsure how central this is to the WMUK mission.
- Would it not be better to fund digital literacy projects run by other charities that have more experience and systems for delivering these outcomes rather than creating new ones of our own? --Fæ (talk) 12:36, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Indeed there is nothing precluding that from being part of our strategy. The point is that understanding information is rather crucial to being able to use resources such as Wikipedia, and contribute to them so digital literacy fits into goals around reducing barriers to access.
