Talk:Education projects/University Wikimedian in Residence
Mention the possibility of language students translating articles as a real life exercise using contemporary language and being open to external critical scrutiny form readers and editors. How much more motivating for the students (and staff) to be contributing to world's knowledge. (The Finnish wiki page on Spam is in need of a good shake up for example) (Just joking) User:Jon Davies WMUK 08:00, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
"digitize, compile and organize resources" - currently ambiguous, is this talking about content that would be useful for the projects, or resources for running courses on how to edit Wikipedia? (or both) Mike Peel (talk) 18:02, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
There's a lot of similarities with the Campus Ambassador roles here that can probably be learnt from, see outreach:Wikipedia Campus Ambassador (in particular, see the subpages for each country). It's not quite the same, though, as a WiR could be more higher-level/strategic rather than hands-on... Mike Peel (talk) 18:05, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- On the first point - yes, both. Re the Campus Ambassador role I think I've sort of covered that with "Support teaching staff making use of Wikipedia in the classroom, by providing training to both staff and students, coordinating with the global Wikimedia community, sharing and developing best practice from the Wikipedia Education Programme" - is there anything I've missed?
