Matt Jukes has just suggested that we should at least have fringe events at Wikimania and the OKF Conference. I'm in complete agreement! Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 17:08, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
A couple of things happening in Glasgow that I thought might be of interest.
- We had a Glasgow meetup planned for the 1st December in the usual place with the usual format, but I went along to an OpenStreetMap meetup this week and was invited to wear my Wikimedia volunteer hat at another social event that was also taking place on 1st December. So, we've shifted our meetup to the new venue and hopefully something will come out of it. Actually, I'm not sure it matters whether 'something comes out of it'; perhaps what matters is taking part.
- There is talk of a joint conference in Glasgow on a mapping/geo-spatial theme with OpenStreetMap, Open Data Glasgow, The National Library of Scotland, Open Knowledge Foundation Scotland and ourselves in April next year. It seems that once you get involved with other similar, local organisations then collaborative opportunities arise, and you don't really have to force them to happen.
I'll post something at the WMUK Water cooler to see if anyone's interested in the conference. Graeme Arnott (talk) 14:09, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
