Are we keeping any kind of record of who we're sending these newsletters to? Might be useful to have some kind of stats. AndrewRT 18:42, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, there's my memory. Also, various trails exist for who I've sent the newsletters to thus far, both on wiki and by email. At the moment I think it's more effort than it's worth to keep stats; they can be reconstructed later if we want them. Mike Peel 21:45, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Is it worth just keeping a note of how many people have received it by email mand on wiki? I think it may be hard to reconstruct the longer we leave it. AndrewRT 15:28, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

"being drafted"

There are currently a lot of reports on this page that say "being drafted". Have they been issued or not? If they haven't, shouldn't finishing them be a priority rather than working on new ones? Obviously, having a new comms person should help out here, but it will probably be difficult for them to catch up with the backlog having not been here for those months. --Tango (talk) 00:03, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

I had just noticed the same thing, Tango and had come here to comment on it. It would be good to see them. I have been looking around the wiki trying to find out how many members there are (and can't find the figure) so I would be grateful if that could be included in the report. --Bodnotbod (talk) 20:55, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

They're mostly complete, but they still need formatting and checking to make sure they include all events before they're properly issued. I'll be working on this in a week's time or so, once some major day job activities are out of the way. If you could help improve them, then that would be greatly appreciated.
In terms of finishing vs working on new ones - once a backlog sets in, it's much easier to catch up if there are 50% complete reports ready, than if reports need writing from scratch. It also increases the chances that things will be missed. It also means that there's something available in draft form for people to look at if they want the latest info, rather than waiting for the final version to be emailed around (it's a wiki, things can be in progress).

It's good to hear you are working on them! My reason for thinking it would be better to prioritise the old ones is because a report becomes less and less useful the older it is. If you let the backlog grow too much, it becomes pointless trying to catch up and you should just scrap the old ones (or do an omnibus update, as we've done in the past when we've got behind). Since a lot of work has already been done on them, you need to make sure you can publish them before it gets to that point or that work is wasted. --Tango (talk) 00:44, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
