On 18 February 2010 between 12.00 midday and 1.30pm, enjoy the opportunity to see behind the scenes at thir stores on the 18 February, including a sneak preview their upcoming exhibition ‘Clocking-In’, an exhibition of the working day. Get a sneak preview of ‘Clocking-In’ as curators prepare and install the exhibition. Places are limited; booking is essential.

Flash photography will be allowed for this event. Places are limited to 15 participants per session, so please call the museum on 01234 353323 to book your place on this event.

The British Postal Museum & Archive’s Museum Store, Debden, Essex

On the 20th February only, between 10.30am and 4pm, The British Postal Museum & Archive will open the doors of its Museum Store in Debden, Essex to photographers. The British Postal Museum Store houses a variety of objects including letterboxes, telephone kiosks, postal vehicles, sorting machinery and the desk of Sir Rowland Hill (founder of the penny post). Refreshments will be available to participants.

As well as offering the chance to photograph some fascinating objects related to the British postal service, guidance will be offered to anyone wanting to write and research new articles about postal history for Wikipedia. Some resources will be available on the day and there'll be screenings of films made in the 1930's and 1940's by the acclaimed GPO Film Unit. Further information

The best photograph taken at The British Postal Museum & Archive’s Museum Store will receive a trio of DVD box sets celebrating the work of the GPO Film Unit, valued at £75.

Horniman Museum, Forest Hill, London

Explore the Horniman's collections of musical instruments and chinese anthropology - you're sure to be able to discover something that you can tie to Communication and Love. Conflict and Transport might be more tricky though - and how about Daily life and Freedom?

The best three photographs taken at the Horniman Museum will win a choice of a pair or family ticket to "Myths and Monsters", a new exhibition opening at the Horniman on 13 February.

Mill Green Museum, Hatfield, Hertfordshire

On 16 February 2010 between 2 and 4pm, join in with "Mill Green Loves Wikipedia", and explore the range of, and changes in, the working days of local people. Flash photography is allowed. No booking necessary.

Museum of Army Flying, Stockbridge, Hampshire

On the 6th/7th February, the Museum of Army Flying in Hampshire will be offering free entry to photographers as well as free tea or coffee, and will be allowing flash and tripod photography. Throughout February Britain Loves Wikipedia photographers can enter the museum free.

Explore over 90 historical aircraft at the London site, including the only complete Hawker Typhoon and one of only two remaining Vickers Wellingtons. There are another 70 aircraft at the Cosford site, as well as collections of engines and missiles. It's not just aircraft though - can you find the folding motorcycle at Cosford?

Taking pictures showing Conflict and Transport will be easy - but how about Communication and Love? How do the exhibits link with Daily life? What specifically relates to Freedom?

The best photograph from each of the RAF Museums will win £100.00 of goods from the Museum's shop.

Come along to the launch event on the 31st January from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm in the Sackler Centre. At 11:30 there will be a welcome from the V&A's Digital Team followed by short talks by Michael Peel (Wikimedia UK) and Nick Poole (Collections Trust), accompanied with free tea, coffee, and refreshments, followed by plenty of time in the afternoon to explore the museum and photograph its objects!

On the 13 February 2010 between 11.00 am and 4.00 pm, come along to "Darwin’s 201st Birthday Bash Big Saturday". This regular Big Saturday event consists of objects brought out of stores for handling and discussion with natural science curators. The Museum is half-way through a year long programme of events celebrating Charles Darwin. This Big Saturday will encourage visitors to both learn more about Charles Darwin himself, and to explore the natural world and their relationship to it. For Britain Loves Wikipedia objects from the zoology, palaeontology, entomology, botany and geology collections will be available in the Museum’s Resource Centre on the 3rd floor gallery.

National Football Museum, Preston

It's World Cup year - so why not visit the National Football Museum and try to find the World Cup '66 ball, the replica Jules Rimet trophy, and the Maradona shirt? While you're there, what else can you find that fits in with the six themes? Communication and Love shouldn't be too difficult, nor Daily Life and Freedom, but Conflict and Transport might be a little more difficult.

Nottingham Natural History Museum

On 11 February 2010 between 11am and 5pm, come along to "Britain Loves Wikipedia Day". The museum will be bringing out a selection of biological and geological objects from our stores and making them available for photography in the museum’s Great Hall (situated in the main Wollaton Hall building.) Objects will include examples of taxidermy (reptiles, birds, mammals) skeletal material, and invertebrates from the biology collections, and various rocks, minerals and fossils from the geology collections.

Flash photography is allowed, however the amount of flash photography for any light-sensitive objects may be limited depending on demand.

On the 14th February only, between 1 and 4pm, John Muir's Birthplace, Dunbar and Prestongrange Museum, Prestonpans will open their doors specially to photographers of all abilities to allow them to explore the building, its collections and the surrounding area.

Even though it's the closed season at Prestongrange, the Beam Engine will be opened up to allow you a unique opportunity to capture the inside of this historic construction. At John Muir's Birthplace, you can be inspired by the same natural world which led to John Muir's epic achievements.

Free tours at both venues will take place at 2pm on the following topics on a first come, first served basis: A Walk Around John Muir's Dunbar, and The Prestongrange Site: A History. Plus, both venues will be offering free tea and coffee to all photographers! So come along and help take East Lothian's history into the wider wiki-world!
