Talk:Events
This layout is quite confusing - reverse chronoological for the months and chronilogical for the days. Could we be consistent? Also would be useful to add day of the week. 213.1.240.149 22:05, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Good point. I've changed it to be reverse chronological throughout (I think it's useful to have the current and future events at the top, whilst retaining the older events). Adding day of the week would indeed be useful; feel free to add these if you like. Alternatively, we could switch to Rock drum's system of calendars, e.g. see {{March 2011}} Mike Peel 22:28, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Ordering?
Now we have so many events planned so far in advance, I think we ought to re-order this so the most imminent events are at the top. I think most people looking at this page will be thinking "what's on in the next few weeks" rather than "what's on in the middle of next year" - so it would make sense for the current month to be at the top, and then proceed chronologically forward into the future... what do people think? The Land (talk) 08:28, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- I agree so much I've just gone ahead and done it. I'm happy to be reverted if people disagree, but even if we don't go with the layout I've used I think we definitely need to change it somehow. Having things happening next year at the top just doesn't make sense. My new layout requires more maintenance, since events need to be moved to the Past section when they happen, but I expect we can cope with that. --Tango (talk) 11:47, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Nicely done. :) Mike Peel (talk) 21:54, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Tom! The Land (talk) 14:03, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- As a note on maintenance: it's probably easiest to update this after each month closes, rather than part way through a month. It doesn't really matter too much if the page lists past events for the current month (in fact, it probably makes the page more useful if recent events can be easily be found!) Thanks. Calendar
Calendar doesn't work for me. It seems that h2vx can't handle redirection from http to https, and it's serving dummy ics file. After generating link with https (http://h2vx.com/ics/https%3A//wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Events) I'm getting calendar with events. Pbm (talk) 15:56, 1 December 2014 (GMT)
Ireland
Does WMUK cover Ireland? If so, see en:Wikipedia:Meetup/Ireland 2, which is apparently known as Dublin 1. --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 16:30, 25 February 2015 (GMT)
- Now you mention it, Wikimedia Community Ireland was founded in 2014 after an event supported by Wikimedia UK. They're an officially recognised user group and we've been helping them out a bit. I think it's reasonable to include the event on our page in case anyone is interested so I've gone ahead and done so. Thanks for pointing it out!
