Draft

I've just put up a first long draft, largely adapted from Michael (@MichaelMaggs:) and Martin's (@MartinPoulter:) excellent work on the European Commission copyright reform, and education strategy respectively. It is a page and a bit too long, unfinished (particularly the informal education section), and needs some heavy editing. It really is an adaptation of the earlier work, so it may also be that in the context of this evidence we'd want to cover different/additional/fewer considerations. There is, in any case, a long while left to continue the work before the deadline so I hope we can get something in shape for then! I've added Michael & Martin as contributors, I don't know who else was involved in those earlier documents but I think it's good to add contributor lists (even if it's from WMUK organisation, I always prefer to see the author list), obviously people should just add themselves, etc. cheers Sjgknight (talk) 12:04, 26 July 2014 (BST)

Wikipedia Education Collaborative (and Wikipedia Education Program) perspective

I've added my name to the list as a contributor to the evidence as I'd like to provide detailed information about WMUK's systematic work in a global context (with the Wikipedia Education Collaborative) and our efforts to systematically engage with the Wikipedia Education Program, taking advantage of established resources.

I'm very busy until Wikimania but will be able to engage with everyone else contributing to this evidence from Monday 11 August onwards. --Toni Sant (WMUK) (talk) 09:24, 28 July 2014 (BST)
Sounds good to me @Toni Sant (WMUK):, no particular hurry given the September deadline. It had crossed my mind representing WEC would be good and I think the developing work around collaborating on global, multi-language materials will be very valuable. If we find ourselves going over 6 pages for whatever reason it'll be fine, we just need to make sure we have an exec summary too. Look forward to it! Sjgknight (talk) 09:58, 28 July 2014 (BST)
Next week, ahead of the deadline, I'm able to pick up on the points I raised above. @Sjgknight: (and/or others) - it would be helpful if you could guide me as to what you think would be best for me to contribute since you have a stronger overview of the document as a whole. I now have a clearer idea of the activities and potential of the WEC, and WMUK's WEP planning has taken on a slightly clearer focus as we approach the oncoming academic year. Anyway, I can set aside an hour or two, as needed, to chime in accordingly. --Toni Sant (WMUK) (talk) 15:16, 29 August 2014 (BST)
@Toni Sant (WMUK): Section 'Skills education for the future workforce' could do with some work, but it needs to be concise. The emphasis is on how open facilitates - or is fundamentally tied to - digital skills through e.g. open educational practices, literacy skills, education-translation projects, etc. 'Teaching to inspire for the jobs of the future' might take some wikipedia assignment content, and 'Informal and workplace learning' could perhaps also do with fleshing out a bit. Brevity though! Sjgknight (talk) 15:21, 29 August 2014 (BST)
OK, that's clear...and now on my "to do" list for Monday or Tuesday. Thanks. --Toni Sant (WMUK) (talk) 15:24, 29 August 2014 (BST)

Horizon project

Horizon project report looks to be saying some similar things (from quick look at press release) http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-14-1075_en.htm Sjgknight (talk) 09:46, 13 October 2014 (BST)
