- Abstract
The aspirations of academic researchers and educators to create and disseminate knowledge appear at first sight entirely consistent with those of the Wikimedia projects. Yet the relationship between the two sectors is far from friendly. In this talk I want to explore what some of the cultural reasons are for the division, and suggest that before there can be a fruitful relationship, there will need to be changes on the Wikimedia side as well.
Thank you for your proposal.
